Dr. Vandiver and her staff offer a wide range of services for your pets. Through continued training and education Dr. Vandiver will continue to offer the most up to date services, procedures and information available. Some of the services Sylvan Lake Animal Clinic & Laser Surgery Center offers include but are not limited to:
Wellness Exams
Dr. Vandiver recommends that a wellness exam be done every 6 months, because of the increased rate at which our pets age. The earlier we can discover a problem the sooner we can begin treatment or preventative therapy.
General Medicine
Dr. Vandiver covers most health issues but in the best interest of your pet she may refer some cases to specialists.
Laser Surgery

Vaccinations
We do not approach vaccinations with a "cookie cutter" mentality. Dr. Vandiver will select your pet's vaccinations according to you and your pet's lifestyle.
Internal Medicine
Although not board certified, Dr. Vandiver has a tremendous interest in internal medicine.
In House Blood Testing
We utilize an IDEXX Vet Test for our in-house blood testing. This allows Dr. Vandiver to prescribe the best therapy for your pet before you leave the hospital instead of having to wait for outside lab results. There are however some instances when the services of an outside lab may be required.
Nutritional Counseling
Dr. Vandiver is happy to assist you in choosing the best diet and feeding schedule for your pets body type and lifestyle.
Prescription Foods
We have Hill's Science Diet, Hill's Prescription Diets and IVD diets available.
General Dentistry
As for humans, it is recommended that your pet's teeth be cleaned on a regular basis. Bacteria can enter the blood stream through infected gums and settle on the valves of your pet's heart. This can lead to damage of the valves or premature heart failure, significantly shortening the life of your furry family member. Bacteria in the blood may also case damage to the liver or kidneys, again possibly shortening the life of your friend.
Parasite Control
We have the medications to treat both internal and external parasites. Ask Dr. Vandiver or a member of our staff which treatment may be best for your pet.
Pre-Natal Counseling
We strongly recommend spaying or neutering your pets for health and behavioral reasons, but, if you are thinking of breeding your pet, Dr. Vandiver can offer advice on things you may need to do to insure the health and safety of your pet and the unborn puppies or kittens.
Allergy Testing and Treatments
For our itchy scratchy friends Dr. Vandiver offers allergy testing and appropriate treatments. Ask if your pet can benefit from an allergy test.
Geriatric Counseling
As healthcare and nutrition continue to improve for our pets they are living longer lives. Dr. Vandiver can help you in making your aging friend more comfortable as they move into their senior years.
Radiographs
We offer in-house diagnostic radiology including contrast procedures (i.e. barium series) and OFA Certifications.
New Puppy/New Kitten Selection
Dr. Vandiver can offer information and helpful hints on picking out the new puppy or kitten to best meet your lifestyle.
